It's been said that künefe's origin from Syria and Lebanese but its homeland is the southern of Turkey, especially the city of Hatay.
Künefe is a desert, made of shredded wheat and cheese, served hot. It's cooked in various ways in the city of Şanlıurfa, Hatay and Mersin.
HOW IS KÜNEFE COOKED?
After unpacking künefe, put on a proper tray and cook in a pre-heated oven at 250-300 degrees (10 - 15 min.)
Pour the lukewarm syrup onto hot künefe. And serve with icecream, cream, walnuts or pistachios if desired.
Künefe can be cooked on cookstove in a künefe dish or in a pan, fried on both sides.

PREPARATION of SYRUP
Put 3 cups of sugar and 2 glass of water and boil it. 10 minutes will be enough. You can add 2 or 3 drops of lemon juice. You should not pour the syrup hot, wait for it to be lukewarm. So you should prepare the syrup before.
